Music plays a huge part in the film and all of it is good. Though I'm only 12, I truly appreciate Tina's music and am always in awe when she sings "Proud Mary" one of my favorite scenes in the film.
As Roger Ebert pointed out, one of the most triumphant scenes is where, after Tina and Ike have had a vicious and bloody fight, Tina runs away to the Ramada Inn where they take her in.
It is one of the best acted scenes of this decade and I never tire of it when I see the film again.

There's a good world exist still. It's a small little movie and the leading actress was way more beautiful then the actual Tina Turner but It was ok.

I was legitimately ticked off at Lawrence Fishburn after seeing this when it first came out; he played Ike Turner so well that he became the recipient of my and a lot of other people's anger.
Angela Basset is phenomenal as always, and the writing makes you feel like you're living the story. I re-watched it today for the music, but forgot that this particular sing-a-long was the soundtrack to an emotional roller coaster.
There's tons of drama, heartache, and pain; but ultimately this is a story of triumph. Btw Tina Turner at 79 years old in still looks amazing!

Granted, a little hard to take Ike's abuse. What a shame she couldn't get out sooner, betrayed by her own mother. Turner is quite an inspiration, especially when she truly breaks out on her own.

But finally after coming to her senses she left. Gave up everything " except her stage name " and started again.! How wrong he was.? I somehow missed this one in but it was worth the wait.
A very entertaining and action packed film where the two hours just flew by. Brilliant film that anyone who enjoys Tina's music will simply adore.
However, even if you don't appreciate her music you'll love the film. A hard hitting, yet real life drama-showing the reality of the up's and down's of fame, the music industry and of course the art of being in love.
You can't help but feel her triumphs when she overcomes her husband, nor can you help but cry with her pain and mourn with her sorrow.
Definitely one for the ladies with an uplifting ending and if you didn't like Tina before, I'm sure you will have nothing but admiration after!
