Plenty of dust, sweat, and grit in tight shots. A lot of senseless death. Ace High is a complete joy to watch. This is a serious film with much dark irony.

Although notable for the usual dagger-sharp performance from Eli Wallach, the interesting and likable role played by Brock Peters, and the ever-charming ruffian duo of Hill and Spencer, this one doesn't quite move me.

For one thing, part of Terence Hill's charm lies in his soft, teasing, infinitely sarcastic voice--and here he's dubbed by some annoyingly same tough-guy voice actor who makes me want to put that part of the dialogue on mute and subtitles only.

Meanwhile, the plot is. Amusing here and there, yes. Plenty of action--goes without saying. So, if you're a Wallach fan, you may want to buy this for your collection, as Eli was a truly great and underrated actor and doesn't fail us here.

Beyond that, well, it was kind of fun to watch--once only. This is a western. But when they catch up with Cacopoulos the money is all gone and in short the most expedient way to get their cash back is to team up with him.

All in all I liked this movie and the offbeat sense of humor it has. That is not to say this is a comedy, but there are humorous moments.

One person found this helpful. Definitely some continuity issues with this one, but it is a fair copy of Clint Eastwood movies.

It was good enough that I stuck it out for the whole thing, and that's going some. It's not bad, give it a go.

I give this 5 stars because its endearing to me. For me this movie sets up "Boot Hill" as a sequel to "Ace High", I know they weren't meant to be but they work well when watched in that order.

If you take the Bud Spencer Terence Hill movies to serious you will be disappointed if your looking for some light hearted western comedy then you will find it here.

If your looking for a hard core great western don't look here. Terrence Hill and Eli Wallach In many ways Hills "man with no name" towers above Eastwood's, and Wallach absolutely shines in this!

See all reviews. Top reviews from other countries. Cacopoulos, the mixed-race outlaw, has been released from jail by his old friend Harold, the banker, an associate of the late Bill San Antonio.

It turned out Harold was once a bank robber himself, who with his friends Paco and Drake abandoned Cacopoulos on their heist getaway. Cacopoulos was arrested, and tried his best to be good for years, but his friends weren't done.

To cover up the crime, someone knocked Cacopoulos out while he was on parole and stabbed a deputy to death, with Cacopoulos' own knife.

Now Caco wants revenge. After killing Harold, he robs Cat Stevens and Hutch Bessy, taking with him the bounty money for San Antonio and spending it on helping those in need.

But he's so good in the role you don't care. Plus, Caco is among a then-new wave of 'bandido' characters who are given a human face. Cacopoulos kills, lies and steals, but you feel sympathy for him, too.

Who can help it? Tuco was a trailblazer in characterisation, so those who followed him were bound to have similarities.

In this case, Caco is, to quote one reviewer, "kinder, gentler and slightly smarter". The supporting roles are fine.

Bud Spencer's Hutch is a bruiser with occasional bouts of depression, who becomes Cacopoulos' foil on their adventure, and Terence Hill's Cat has little to do other than to lend a hand.

The film has memorable set pieces, such as the band walking through a street fight and knocking out brawlers, Thomas' high wire infiltration of Drake's casino, and Caco telling the story of his family.
